Women’s Ministry

God designed us to be in relationship with other people. He desires for us to live in a spiritual community in which we learn together and grow together. That’s what makes First Women such a special ministry of First Baptist Paducah. Women have several opportunities to grow spiritually and to connect with other women through various activities such as Bible studies and special events.

If you’re a woman living in the Paducah area and want to get connected to other women who love the Lord, then join us for one of these events.

Spring 2018 Bible Studies

When women get together centered on God’s Word, we connect and friendships form. The conversations we share bring us encouragement, comfort, and a strengthened faith. If you long to stay connected, join us for “Coffee & Conversation” April 12, 19, and 26 from 9:30-11:00 am. Childcare will be provided at the church, but your child must be pre-registered by March 22.

Choose from the following three in-home book studies which are being offered:

Pilgrimage into the Last Third of Life: 7 Gateways to Spiritual Growth by Richard L Morgan and Jane Marie Thibault

Do you dread growing old? The last third of life doesn’t have to be feared. When viewed from a Christian perspective, this season of life can be meaningful, endurable, joyful, full of purpose, and ripe with opportunities for spiritual growth. The authors give you 7 ways to open yourself to God and the abundant life God wants for you, addressing 7 gateways to spiritual growth: Facing Aging and Dying, Learning to Live with Limitations, Doing Inner Work, Living In and Out of Community, Praying and Contemplation, Redeeming Loss and Suffering, and Leaving a Legacy. This collection of scripture-based meditations will inspire you or someone you know to move fearlessly into the Last Third, looking forward to the opportunities this time of life can hold.

Humble Roots by Hannah Anderson

Do you long for peace and contentment? The Blue Ridge Parkway meanders through miles of rolling Virginia mountains. It’s a route made famous by natural beauty and the simple rhythms of rural life. And it’s in this setting that Hannah Anderson began her exploration of what it means to pursue a life of peace and humility. Fighting back her own sense of restlessness and anxiety, she finds herself immersed in the world outside, discovering a classroom full of forsythia, milkweed, and a failed herb garden. Lessons about soil preparation, sour mulch, and grapevine blights reveal the truth about our dependence on God, finding rest, and fighting discontentment.

The Virtuous Woman: Shattering the Superwoman Myth by Vicki Courtney

Does the woman in Proverbs 31 make you feel like a sluggard? For years Christian women have

struggled to understand what the Proverbs 31 woman was all about. Instead of encouragement or instruction, for most, this passage offered “more guilt than eating a one-pound bag of M&Ms.” Is this the ideal woman? Or is the Proverbs 31 woman an outdated fixture of the past? Vicky Courtney believes that this passage is not in the Bible by accident and that a virtuous woman is a rare find in today’s world. Join Vicki as she sojourns with you to unravel the mystery behind the Proverbs 31 woman.

Spring Precept Study (7 weeks)

Thurdays, 6-8 PM

Beginning April 12

Cost: $15 (includes worksheets & notebook)

These were the last prophets to the Southern Kingdom of Judah before Judah was taken captive to Babylon. Each prophet cried out to a nation which needed to heed the Word of the Lord about judgment. Any nation, Assyria or Judah, which chose to worship idols rather than God, would be judged by God unless they turned to Him in repentance, but God would warn them first. These three prophets will teach you how God deals with those who turn away from Him and how He gives a warning to turn to Him rather than perish.
