What Is Worship?
God is fundamentally “praiseworthy” in His character. We were made to worship Him. Worship can be defined as our response to who God is and what He has done, both as our Creator and Redeemer. According to Romans 12:1-2, our spiritual act of worship as believers is to offer our very bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. All of life is an opportunity for us to worship our great God. The very breath in our lungs and the heart beating in our chest means we are alive and able to respond to our Creator.
Our worship as a church is a time where we gather to remember God’s faithfulness and to declare that He has bought us with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. We have been redeemed from the bondage of our sins and are free to worship the Lord. We do so through singing, praying, giving, preaching, and celebrating the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We gather corporately for worship services because we are commanded to do so and ultimately because God is worthy of our worship.
Music and Style
Few things define a people like their music. This is no less true of the church than of the culture at large. Our music at First Baptist makes a statement about who we are and what we believe as a church. Our music ministry is committed to God-focused worship. The songs we sing as a congregation are saturated with the good news of Jesus Christ, and we aim to exalt the name of our great God.
The morning services at First Baptist utilize different styles from the natural expressions of our two lead worshippers, Art DeWeese and Steve Moore. The early service is led by Pastor Moore, accompanied by a praise band. The late service is led by the adult choir and orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Deweese. In both expressions, ancient hymns and modern choruses are blended for the use of corporate worship. Our musicians and vocalists aim to lead strong congregational singing through thoughtful and heartfelt music. To God alone be the glory.
Service Times
Because of the number of people who gather weekly for worship at First Baptist Church, we offer two different opportunities for corporate worship. Both morning services are held in the sanctuary, and are scheduled around our central Bible study hour. We also gather regularly for evening worship in the Chapel.

Are children welcome in the worship service?
Yes! Children are welcome and encouraged to attend worship services at First Baptist Church. There are few things more powerful than seeing a family worship together. While valuing the importance of families attending service together, we do understand the need for particular attention to children and offer a special time and place for kids to gather during the service for “Children’s Church.”
Nursery is available for children birth through Pre-K during both morning worship services and during Bible study.
Children’s Church is offered during the early service (8:30 am) for children K-3rd grade. However, the last Sunday of each month children remain with their parents throughout the early worship service. A kid-friendly activity packet is provided which follows along with the morning service.
Children remain with their parents every Sunday in the late worship service (11:00 am). A kid-friendly activity packet is provided which follows along with the morning service.
