Operation Shoebox
Our church is proud to partner with Samaritan's Purse each year for Operation Christmas Child. Our members display enormous generosity, packing hundreds of shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, and anything we can think of to brighten the lives of children all around the world. National Collection Week is in early November.
Heart For The World Week
Every year, our church sets aside time for an intentional week to serve God on mission. We alternate every other year, planning mission trips in Kentucky and abroad.
Spring Break week of 2009 and 2011, we sent dozens of our folks to Orphanage Emmanuel near Guiamaca, Honduras for a week of service and worship. This is a family-focused, church-wide experience involving children, young people, adults, and senior adults. In addition to living and working at the orphanage, we gather each evening to worship together and focus on God’s heart for the world.
In 2010, the people of FBC spent a week in June serving the local community of Paducah, as well as Williamsburg in East Kentucky. You can read about our previous experiences by following the blog links below.
Romania
God uses Tom Unici, a Romanian believer and member of First Baptist Church, to lead our efforts to impact the people of Romania with the gospel. Each year, people participate in short-term mission trips to this eastern European country. Activities include preaching and leading church services as well as hosting evangelistic crusades and conferences for Christian leaders.
Ukraine
Funds which were given in the memory of Dick Thomas were delivered in order to build a church building for believers in the town of Ozero. FBC members Suzanne Thomas and Judy Howell have followed the Lord's vision for that work and led multiple teams in serving this poverty-stricken community. FBC has worked alongside the House of the Gospel Church in Rivne to lead a Vacation Bible School in the village of Ozero and minister in an orphanage in Rivne. We have also helped in the construction planning of a ministry building in Ozero which included searching for property, meeting with contractors, etc. We regularly send teams to preach in this community, sharing the good news and bringing the hope of Christ to those in Ozero.
